My work is a work of street art which is entitled “In what world Vuitton” and I made it in 1980 in a very visited district of Paris.
To make it I used stencils and a spray can to create this wall drawing. The shapes are and the designs are simple.
We can find black and white as colors to represent the African child in a seal bearing the logo of the French brand Louis Vuitton also black and white. The writing "In what world Vuitton" which translates into English as [translation of the phrase "In what world Vuitton"] is written to the right of the drawing and is in black except for the word Vuitton which is in pink. I used pink because for me it represents beauty, aesthetics but also artifice, the superficial while black and white simplicity and neutral which marks a form of contrast between the Louis Vuitton brand and the drawing of the mixed-race child.
Indeed, I wanted to denounce with this work the economic distribution in the world, poverty. My work can be seen as a criticism of the consumer society due to my quote "in what world is Vuitton" which highlights the brand Louis Vuitton as a dominant brand on our culture and the world that is part of it.
Finally, I like this work because it was made to make you feel emotions but also to make you think about a subject that is not often discussed in the contemporary artistic world.
