1. Rosa grew up in the United States in Tuskegee, Alabama and then in Pine Level, close to Montgomery.
2. She was born in Tuskegee on February 4, 1913
3.Rosa's mother was a teacher and her father was à carpenter.
4.On December 1, 1955 Rosa was asked to give up her seat on the public bus to a white passenger. She refused.
5. Rosa was charged with breaking a segregation law and was told to pay a fine of 10$.
6.African-American leaders got together and decided to boycott the city buses. This means that they would no longer ride the buses.
7.Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became the leader of the Montgomery Improvement Association which helped to lead the boycott.
8.An estimated 90% African-Americans stopped using the public buses.
9.The boycott lasted for 381 days.
10.The Supreme Court ruled that public buses could no longer be segregated.
11.Rosa was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
12.Rosa Parks died on October 24,2005.
